Tripodi to return to court in Obeid trial

Former NSW Labor minister Joe Tripodi will return for a second day of grilling at a trial he says he wouldn't be attending if former cabinet colleague Eddie Obeid had fronted to the financial interest his family allegedly had in a number of Circular Quay cafe leases.

Obeid, 72, is before the NSW Supreme Court, accused of wilfully committing misconduct in public office by failing to declare a personal stake in the leases when making representations about the plight of leaseholders in late 2007.

On Monday, Mr Tripodi, who became the state's ports minister in 2006, gave evidence that he could not recall Obeid informing him about any interest in any of the retail businesses at Circular Quay.

The trial continues on Tuesday before Justice Robert Beech-Jones.
