Three-month NSW murder trial looms

The trial of a man accused of bashing dead a NSW high school maths teacher could take up to three months and involve 150 witnesses.

Ricardo Francis Herman Dasilva was charged last year, more than three years after the body of Amanda Carter was discovered in her Woongarrah bedroom on the NSW Central Coast.

She was found by her teenage daughter in May 2010.

Dasilva, 65, pleaded not guilty to murder in the Supreme Court on Friday.

The court heard the case against the former real estate agent was circumstantial and his trial could last 12 weeks.

There were 200 witnesses and while the prosecution was trying to cut the number, there wouldn't be less than 150 witnesses, the court heard.

Dasilva is expected to face trial in August.
