Sydney residents return after crane crash

Residents of a Sydney high-rise that was evacuated after a crane crashed into the side of the building have begun to return home.

About 160 residents at the Arc building in Wolli Creek were relocated after the 30-metre crane toppled one week ago.

Frasers Property gave them the green light to return at 11am on Sunday after the last pieces of the crane were removed on Saturday.

Workers from contractor Probuild used four mobile cranes to lift the fallen cantilever crane off the apartment block.

Power and gas was restored to the building as residents returned, but they were warned to expect a noisy evening as workers continued to remove scaffolding.

Frasers said residents could remain in their hotels for Sunday night if they preferred to be away from the work.
