Sydney glass attacker pleads not guilty

A Sydney man accused of throwing a glass at another bar patron after an argument about cigarette smoke has pleaded not guilty to wounding.

Robert Haigh, 25, was with a friend at a Manly hotel when a squabble broke out with a 24-year-old smoking at the end of their table on March 21, police say.

Haigh allegedly threw a glass at his head, leaving him with two cuts to the face that required hospital treatment.

He was charged with reckless wounding and possessing a prohibited drug.

Haigh pleaded not guilty to the glassing offence before Manly Local Court on Wednesday but admitted possessing the drug.

He will appear before Manly Local Court on May 27.
