It all unfolded at about 9.45pm on Friday, when emergency crews responded to reports of a stabbing on Painters Lane in Terrigal.

It’s understood the Triple Zero call was made after the injured 15-year-old approached the stranger’s house seeking help.

Chief Inspector John Zorilic said the teen had a stab wound to his left side that was bleeding heavily.

He also commended the actions of the Good Samaritan, who rendered immediate aid to the wounded teenager, before paramedics treated him on the street and rushed him to Gosford Hospital.

Police were also informed that the boy was around several other teenagers when he was stabbed.

“It looks like they may have met up with another group ... for some reason, those two groups have decided to head to Painters Lane,” Zorilic said.

He said the victim was with two friends at the time of the alleged attack.

“There doesn’t appear to be any confrontation that has occurred in Painters Lane,” Zorilic said.

Authorities are working to determine why the groups were in the street and if they were known to each other.

“Youths walking around with knives is not on,” Zorilic said.
