Severed penis presented to police

A man has found what is believed to be a severed human penis on the NSW Central Coast, but police say it has to be forensically examined to determine exactly what it is.

Just after 11am on Thursday a man walked into Toukley Police Station holding a plastic bag containing an unidentified object, police said.

The object has been taken to John Hunter hospital to be forensically examined by specialists, police said.

"Police called the ambulance service who inspected the contents and agreed it appeared to be some form of tissue matter that could be a penis," a police spokesman told News Ltd.

Police say if the object is a human penis an investigation will be launched.
