Police prepare for Golden Slipper slip-ups

More than 15,000 people are expected to flock to Sydney's Rosehill Gardens for the Golden Slipper including riot squad officers and the drug-detection dog unit.

NSW Police will conduct a high-visibility operation at The Australian Turf Club event on Saturday with a focus on crowd safety, dangerous or anti-social behaviour and drink-driving on major roads or racecourse backstreets.

Superintendent Scott Whyte says authorities are not looking to spoil the fun of racegoers, but "those who drink too much, become a nuisance to other racegoers, or commit offences, will be swiftly removed by police".
