Police investigate suspicious Sydney fire

Police believe a fire which caused significant damage to a Londonderry home in Sydney's west was deliberately lit.

The residents, a man and a woman, followed a noise at the front of their house late on Thursday night to find their front veranda well alight.

Police say the pair's efforts to douse the flames with a garden hose didn't work, but it was quickly contained by emergency services.

No one was injured.
