Police dog nabs wanted man in Sydney

A NSW Police dog has helped catch a man wanted on five outstanding warrants in southern Sydney.

The dog, its handler and a policeman went to arrest the 22-year-old at a home in Loftus on Monday night but the man ran out of the house and tried climbing over the back fence, striking one of the officers in the eye with his elbow, police said.

That was when the police dog leapt into action, biting the man's thigh before he was arrested, was refused bail to appear in Sutherland Local Court on Tuesday.
