Pedestrian fatally hit by car may have known alleged driver

Police are investigating after a woman was fatally struck by a car in the Hunter Valley last night.

Emergency services were called to Dalton Avenue in Singleton about 6pm yesterday.

Officers were told a 61-year-old pedestrian was struck by a Toyota Corolla and died at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, a 22-year-old woman, was taken to Singleton Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests, the results of which are not yet known.

Initial inquiries suggest the women are known to each other.
