Caravan fire, property dispute may be linked to deadly NSW shooting
A caravan fire and property dispute may be linked to the alleged murder of one man and the attempted murder of another in northern NSW.
Events began when police were notified of a shooting on Tyalgum Road at Eungella, south-west of Tweed Heads, about 1.25pm yesterday.
Officers found a 41-year-old man dead at the scene with a single gunshot wound to the head.

A 38-year-old man who was shot in the back had taken himself to a nearby hospital.
He remains there in a stable condition.
A 45-year-old man allegedly fled the scene and was struck by a car about 200 metres away.

Police launched a major operation that ended with the arrest of a 36-year-old man. Nine
He suffered serious injuries including a broken leg, broken arm, and chest injuries, and was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital where he remains under police guard in a stable condition.
Acting Superintendent Matthew Zimmer said police would allege the 45-year-old man was the shooter, and would extradite him from Queensland when he was released from care.
No weapon has been recovered, but Zimmer said it was believed to be a handgun.

A fourth man, aged 36, allegedly fled the scene and was found in nearby bushland at about 6.40pm yesterday, after a search involving PolAir and the dog squad.
He has been charged with murder and attempted murder and was refused bail to appear in court today.
Zimmer said the alleged attack was a targeted incident with all individuals involved accounted for.

He said all four were known to each other. The dead man and wounded man were cousins.
The shooting, he said, may have been linked to an ongoing dispute involving a caravan fire and some property, but investigators were yet to speak to either hospitalised man and the alleged motive had not been fully established.
"Any further than that we simply do not know," Zimmer said.
The two cousins were occupants of the property where the shooting took place.
Zimmer said police were confident the car that struck the 45-year-old, and its as-yet-unknown driver, were associated with the property as well.
