NSW man dies after head-on car crash

A man has died following a two-car collision in the NSW Northern Tablelands.

The 45-year-old driver died at the scene of the crash on Monday around six kilometres north of Uralla after his car crashed with another vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.

The driver's passenger was taken to hospital for suspected fractures and internal injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle, an 83-year-old man, sustained a soft tissue injury while his passenger, an 82-year-old woman, was taken to hospital for further treatment, police said.

Less than an hour later, a 73-year-old woman died after she was struck by a car while crossing the road in Wiley Park just before 5.30pm on Monday.

She was taken to St George Hospital with critical head injuries and later died.

A 36-year-old man has been charged with negligent driving occasioning death and bailed to appear in court later this month.
