An unlicensed man who allegedly hit a police officer with a stolen car in NSW's Riverina region has been charged and extradited from Victoria.

Police approached a home on Burrows Road in Albury at about 5pm on May 31 after checks revealed a Mercedes Benz parked in the driveway was stolen.

The 19-year-old driver allegedly reversed at speed, hitting and dragging a detective along the driveway before reversing into an unmarked car, a police statement said on Tuesday.

He is expected to face Albury Local Court.
