NSW constable bitten, has hair pulled out

A man has been charged after he injured a female police officer in Sydney's south.

Officers attending to reports of concerns for a male occupant of a unit in Brighton-Le-Sands midday on Sunday found the man agitated and aggressive. He charged at officers.

Despite the use of a Taser and capsicum spray, the man forced the woman constable officer to the ground and scratched and bit her head and pulled out hair. Other officers again tasered the man and managed to subdue him.

The constable was treated in hospital for facial injuries before being released. The 48-year-old man was assessed and then charged with assaulting a police officer and other charges. He was refused bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court on Monday.
