Notorious Blue Mountains road gets upgrade
NSW's roads minister is expected to officially open another part of the improvement program for the notorious Bells Line of Road on Monday, which most recently claimed the lives of three young men.
Duncan Gay will open the second lot of overtaking lanes that are set to be built on the Bells Line of Road - a major road that winds from North Richmond into the Blue Mountains.
The 700-metre overtaking lane, west of Kurrajong Heights, is part of a $43 million improvement program for the stretch of road.
It comes two days after 17-year-old Lachlan Burleigh was farewelled after being killed in a horrific head-on crash on Bells Line at Bilpin.
Ben Sawyer, 19, and Luke Shanahan, 21, were also killed in the crash.
The driver and front seat passenger survived, as did the couple in their 80s from the other car involved in the collision.
