Non-urgent NSW crimes reportable online

Minor, non-urgent crimes can now be reported online in a matter of minutes.

Lost property, intentional damage or graffiti and theft offences can be reported on the NSW Police Force Community Portal, which was launched on Wednesday by NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione.

"This resource is about recognising the changing needs of the community we serve and the ever-increasing role technology plays in their day-to-day lives," Mr Scipione said.

"I can also assure those making a report that the information you provide is strictly confidential and is stored securely as you make your way through the reporting process," Mr Scipione said.

The portal, which is linked to a MyServiceNSW account, also allows users to make and receive updates and to be contacted directly by police if further information is required.

People can still report these types of crimes in person or on the phone.
