New arrest over NSW home invasion murder

A 25-year-old woman is expected to be the second person charged over the murder of NSW home invasion victim Michael Martin.

After a nine-month investigation, Mr Martin's 25-year-old son, Michael Phillip Martin, was charged last month with his murder.

He is accused of killing his father during an attack at South Murwillumbah, in the state's north, last June after taking out insurance policies on his life.

At the time police conducted searches in Esk, outside Brisbane.

A 25-year-old woman was arrested in Queensland on Thursday and it's expected NSW police will apply for her extradition on Friday.

The 25-year-old is facing charges of conspiracy to murder, and being an accessory to murder before and after the fact.

Mr Martin survived an initial attack in his unit in April 2014 but he was killed two months later in another home invasion.

Martin Jnr allegedly told police intruders tied him up at his father's flat before they turned on his father.

Mr Martin, 46, suffered horrific injuries. An axe was found at the scene.

Mr Martin's son remains in police custody.

In February, a 21-year-old NSW woman was charged with the attempted murder of a man police allege she was hired to kill.

Detectives allege 21-year-old Jessica Honey Fallon was paid to take out a hit on Mr Martin and broke into his unit with two accomplices.

Mr Martin spent a lengthy stint in hospital recovering from injuries sustained in the first attack.

Fallon was charged with attempted murder and assault occasioning grievous bodily harm last month.

Police have ruled out her involvement in the subsequent fatal attack on Mr Martin in June 2014.

The 25-year-old woman is expected to appear in a Brisbane Magistrates court on Friday, where NSW Police will apply for her extradition.
