Middle-aged man abused girl, 6, on bus

A six-year-old girl has allegedly been indecently assaulted on a NSW bus by a middle-aged man.

The 48-year old sat next to the girl after boarding the bus at Charlestown and spoke to her before abusing her and leaving the bus a short time later on Wednesday afternoon, police say.

The girl told her mother of the incident and following investigation the man was on Saturday arrested at Charlestown and charged with aggravated indecent assault.

He has been granted conditional police bail and is due to front Belmont Local Court in June.
