Man pleads guilty to Sydney cyclists crash

A man has pleaded guilty to dangerous driving after his vehicle collided with seven cyclists in Sydney's eastern suburbs and will be sentenced later this month.

Members of the group suffered injuries ranging from abrasions to serious spinal fractures when they were struck by Thomas Kerr's SUV vehicle at Eastlakes on March 16.

Kerr, 28, of Caringbah, appeared at Downing Local Court on Thursday after pleading guilty to seven charges.

These are four counts of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and three of causing bodily harm by misconduct.

He pleaded not guilty to a charge of negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

Kerr will be committed for sentence at Sydney District Court on December 12.

Police said they were called to Southern Cross Drive near Wentworth Avenue at around 8.30am that Sunday to investigate reports of a collision between seven cyclists and a black Nissan X-Trail in a northbound lane.

Two of the cyclists were taken to St George and Sydney Hospitals, while five were conveyed to St Vincent's Hospital.
