Man pinned under vehicle on NSW beach

A man has escaped serious injury after he was pinned under an all-terrain vehicle near Newcastle
The 46-year-old and another man, 48, were guiding the ATV backwards on Blacksmiths Beach at Lake Macquarie when they were hit by the vehicle.
The younger man was pinned for a short period before it was lifted off by a number of bystanders, police said.

He was taken to John Hunter Hospital with non-life threatening injuries while the 48-year-old was treated at the scene for a foot injury.
The driver, a 53-year-old man, was spoken to by police, who said alcohol was not believed to be a factor.
