Fourth man dies on NSW roads

An elderly driver involved in a fatal crash in the Blue Mountains has become the fourth person to die on NSW roads on Thursday.

Police say the man, aged in his 70s, was trapped for a short time after his car collided with a truck on the Great Western Highway at Blackheath on Thursday morning.

Emergency services were unable to revive the man and he died at the scene.

The crash comes after two young men, believed to be in their early 20s, were found dead on a remote road in outback NSW earlier on Thursday after their motorcycle crashed into a drain.

The first fatal occurred in the state's Hunter region, where a man believed to be in his 30s died after his car crashed into a light pole near Port Stephens.
