Singer Daniel Johns injured in fall outside Sydney bar

Australian singer Daniel Johns has been taken to hospital after falling outside a Sydney bar.

Emergency services were called to the Low 302 bar in Surry Hills around 10:15pm last night.

The 36-year-old was treated at the scene for head injuries by an off-duty doctor and police.

He was taken to St Vincent's Hospital and released this morning in a satisfactory condition.

Johns had been drinking with friends and is believed to have fallen in a laneway near the bar. 

His girlfriend, fashion-blogger Estelita Huijer, posted an image of the pair to Instagram earlier in the night.

Johns fronted iconic Newcastle band Silverchair for around two decades before re-emerging as a solo artist in recent years.

He was convicted of drink-driving earlier this year after being stopped driving his Jaguar in Mereweather, Newcastle in October last year.

He lost his licence after his blood-alchohol reading was registered at 0.126.
