Man in hospital after Newcastle shooting

A 27-year-old man has been shot in his leg and hand at a unit in suburban Newcastle.

The victim's been taken to John Hunter Hospital in a serious but stable condition to undergo surgery.

Detectives and the dog squad are scouring the scene at Jesmond and a number of items have been seized for forensic examination.
