Man dies after car hits tree near Bathurst

A man has died after his car slammed into a tree near Bathurst, in the NSW Central Tablelands.

Initial investigations suggest the driver, believed to be aged in his 50s, died immediately after his car left a road at Peel on Tuesday afternoon and hit the tree.

Police are working to formally identify the man and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
