Man critical, driver arrested after allegedly fleeing hit-run in Sydney

A man is fighting for life after being struck by a car in an alleged hit and run in Sydney’s north-west.

Emergency services were called to Ferndale Avenue in Carlingford about 12.30pm on Sunday after reports a pedestrian had been hit by a car.

Police arrived to find a 34-year-old man pinned under a Nissan van.

Paramedics freed the man from under the car before he was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.

It is alleged the driver of the Nissan fled the scene on foot and headed into nearby bushland.

A 29-year-old man was arrested after a short search of the area.

A crime scene has been established and officers from Crash Investigation Unit are investigating.

No charges had been laid.
