A man has been charged after he allegedly pointed a laser at a patrolling police aircraft in Sydney's south west overnight.

A Polair aircraft was patrolling Sydney's west last night before a high-powered laser was allegedly pointed at the vehicle just after 7pm.

Police later tracked the laser to a Wakeley home and arrested a 64-year-old man.
