Residents jolted awake as police pursuit ends in wrecked street
A man accused of leading police on a high-speed chase through Sydney's west has been granted bail, hours after a dramatic crash brought the pursuit to an end in Guildford.
Police allege the 26-year-old sped away after officers attempted to stop his vehicle on Woodville Road at Old Guildford shortly before 2am.
Investigators claim the chase continued through nearby streets before the driver lost control and slammed into three parked cars on Rhodes Avenue.

CCTV captured the car speeding through the suburb with police vehicles following behind.
Residents said the noise jolted the neighbourhood awake.
"The car rev, speeding and then the brake screeching and then loud bang noise," witness Aqib Khan said.

Another local, Kirstin Kozakiewicz, said the aftermath was chaotic.
"Down on the corner, I see this car has collided with three parked cars," she said.
The driver was uninjured and was granted strict bail conditions after being charged. Nine
The damaged vehicles belong to resident Wael Charrouf, who ran outside after hearing the crash.
"I woke up straight away, came running outside, and all I heard was screaming. It was just a mess," he said.
Video filmed at the scene showed badly damaged vehicles strewn across the street as shocked residents gathered nearby.
"All the cars got smashed!" one person could be heard yelling.
Charrouf said it was fortunate nobody had been standing nearby when the crash happened.

"It's crazy, luckily at 2am no one was here because if there were, it would've been really bad," he said.

He has since been charged over the pursuit and granted bail ahead of a court appearance next month.

Charrouf said residents were lucky to escape without serious injuries.
"Luckily, no one got hurt, though," he said.
