A former police officer has been heard apologising to a friend for dragging him into the aftermath of two killings while insisting his plan was never meant to turn fatal.

Beau Lamarre-Condon, 31, has pleaded not guilty to the February 2024 murders of ex-partner Jesse Baird and his new boyfriend, Luke Davies.

The men's bodies were found at a rural property inside surfboard bags.

The former senior constable claims he killed the men in self-defence after entering their Sydney terrace to retrieve his belongings, including a surfboard.

"I'm going to get my shit back," he recounted to a former friend whose listening device picked up a prison conversation in December 2025.

"I'm not there to do anything wrong."

That recording was played to a NSW Supreme Court jury as the ex-officer's trial resumed on Monday.

"Use your brain and look at me," he told his friend, before stressing evidence would back up his version of events almost two years earlier.

During the conversation, Lamarre-Condon said if he had planned on murdering anyone, he would have arrived with cleaning equipment, a stolen van and a gun purchased for $10,000 from a youth gang.

He told his friend, who cannot be legally named, that he did not knock on the door to get belongings back because he did not want to be slapped with an apprehended violence order.

Instead, the then-28-year-old disguised himself as an Uber Eats driver and entered the home wearing a helmet and hi-vis vest.

Lamarre-Condon said he was experiencing mental health difficulties from work, having seen dead bodies and witnessed child abuse material.

The former senior constable also alleged he was bullied by a homophobic sergeant who applied to be his direct supervisor.

He refused to go to a psychologist for fear of losing his job, the jury heard him say.

"I was so torn between my mental health and myself."

He said he thought about the idea of killing himself by suicide in Bali and in a Sydney national park and just becoming a missing person.

"If I was going to take my life, I didn't want anyone to find me," he said.

On Friday, the friend told the jury that Lamarre-Condon confessed the day of the February 2024 alleged murders.

After being told to come out from his workplace and meet Lamarre-Condon in a strange car, the friend asked what was going on.

"I've done something ... I've killed people," Lamarre-Condon allegedly said.

When asked how he killed them, the sworn police officer allegedly made a firearm gesture with his hand and said: "Pew pew".

"I shot the first one through the head and the second one through the door," the friend recalled Lamarre-Condon saying.

During the recorded conversation played on Monday, the former senior constable said his friend had misinterpreted the facts.

The accused murderer's barrister John Stratton SC began cross-examining the friend on Monday afternoon.

The Crown alleges Lamarre-Condon killed Baird “execution-style” at close range, acting out a plan borne of a jealous obsession, before shooting Davies to eliminate a witness.

The trial continues.
