A man who was allegedly caught driving at nearly twice the speed limit in southern NSW and using dummy number plates has been arrested.
Police say highway patrol officers began pursuing the driver yesterday afternoon after he was detected driving at 197km/h in a 110km/h zone on the Hume Highway at Tumbalong.
The 29-year-old Queensland man eventually pulled over and he was charged with several offences including unlawfully possess plates.
It is alleged the man used Velcro to attach a different set of number plates to his car on top of the existing ones.
The man was refused bail to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court later today, while his licence was suspended and vehicle confiscated for three months.
