Man 'bound, gagged, raped' Tamworth woman
A man is behind bars after he allegedly bound, gagged and raped a woman he also stalked and secretly filmed from outside her home in northern NSW.
The 58-year-old was charged following an investigation into reports a 54-year-old had been sexually assaulted in Tamworth on Saturday night.
The woman told police she was "detained by an unknown man" when she arrived home that night, who then allegedly bound, gagged and sexually assaulted her before running away.
She was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital.
Detectives later spoke to a 58-year-old man who had made numerous attempts to contact and see the woman in the days following the attack.
They allegedly found videos of the woman on his phone, believed to have been filmed outside her home without her knowledge.
He was later charged with three counts of aggravated sexual assault, two counts of filming a person in a private act in circumstances of aggravation, two counts of peep or pry, and stalking or intimidating with intent to cause fear or physical harm.
He was formally refused bail on Tuesday at Tamworth Local Court, where he is scheduled to return on April 9.
