Syd man charged over 2012 Punchbowl death

A man has been charged with murdering one person and attempting to kill another in a gun attack in Sydney's southwest two years ago.

Homicide squad detectives arrested the man outside Sydney Central Local Court on Tuesday morning after he was linked to the murder and attempted murder of two men in Punchbowl in 2012.

A 38-year-old was killed and another was left with serious injuries after he was shot five times.

The 27-year-old man has been charged with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder.

He is due to appear at Central Local Court on Tuesday afternoon.
