Kings Cross identity too sick: barrister
Kings Cross identity Bill Bayeh, who is accused of assaulting the former wife of colourful businessman Geoffrey Edelsten, is too unwell to give proper instructions, his barrister says.
Bill Bayeh, 56, was due to face a local court hearing on Tuesday over allegations he pushed Leanne Nesbitt in the chest outside Sydney's St Vincent's Hospital, where she works as an intensive care nurse.
Bayeh has pleaded not guilty to the alleged February assault.
Speaking outside the Sydney court, his barrister John Spencer said Bayeh was unable to give proper instructions, which was why they asked for an adjournment.
He said Bayeh, who appeared in court on Tuesday, was also concerned about his bail conditions as it was "interfering with his capacity to earn his living".
"He is not able to go outside his nightclub and talk to people to ask them to come in. So it is a bit restrictive," Mr Spencer told reporters.
Bayeh, meanwhile, said he was focusing on getting better.
The matter will return to court in November for hearing.
Bayeh is also accused of resisting arrest in February after he allegedly attempted to destroy a piece of paper when police searched him in Kings Cross.
That matter is expected to return to court on Friday.
