Jury to hear more calls by terror accused

A NSW court is expected to continue hearing recordings of phone conversations between two terror suspects in the trial of Omarjan Azari.

The Afghan-born 24-year-old this week pleaded guilty to making funds available to a terrorist organisation, but pleaded not guilty to another charge of doing an act to prepare or plan for a terrorist act.

Jurors on Wednesday heard taped conversations in Arabic, Dari and English during which Azari allegedly told an overseas Islamic State member he was dealing with "a bit of turmoil" and things had "heated up".

A mate he previously relied on to help transfer the money had been approached by ASIO.

In one translated transcript, Azari was told by Mohammad Ali Baryalei about three "brothers" who were going to "do a martyrdom operation", and Azari spoke about an acquaintance who was "involved in something big in the airport".

The Crown is alleging that in another phone conversation with Baryalei, Azari prepared or planned for a terrorist act.

The jury heard on Monday that Baryalei told Azari to "terminate" at least five people a month, including a "random unbeliever".

The trial will continue on Thursday.
