A jury has retired at the trial of a Sydney man accused of trying to send thousands of dollars to support Islamic State.

Ali Ali-Talebi, 27, pleaded not guilty to two counts of attempting to give resources to a terrorist organisation and one count of knowingly making funds available to a terrorist organisation after raids in 2014.

The Downing Centre District Court jury began its deliberations on Thursday.
