Former NSW minister Chris Hartcher has been given the all-clear from the Parliamentary Ethics Adviser to do lobbying work for a property developer.

A letter from John Evans to Speaker Shelley Hancock, tabled in the parliament on Tuesday, reveals Mr Hartcher has taken up a part-time position as "corporate affairs/community relations manager for a development company for housing apartments and retail centres".

The company is not named in the document but Mr Evans noted that Mr Hartcher's duties included lobbying both state and local government.

The former energy minister was the subject of a lengthy inquiry last year run by the Independent Commission Against Corruption, which centred on allegations he masterminded a plan to funnel funds from banned donors - including property developers - into Liberal coffers.

The ICAC is yet to hand down its findings in that investigation.
