Popular Sydney golf course vandalised by e-bikes

E-bike riders have wreaked havoc at a popular golf course in Sydney's south, tearing up and vandalising greens, leaving parts of the course out of action and causing tens of thousands of dollars in damage.
The four riders broke into Cronulla Golf Course about 8.30pm yesterday, with CCTV footage capturing the moment the alleged offenders cut into the back fence of the property before damaging the fourth and eleventh green.
Police were on the scene investigating the incident and footage today.

"Pretty disappointed, there's a clear intent," Cronulla Golf Club president Jeffrey McCarthy said.
"We regret to inform you of an incident that occurred on the course overnight," Cronulla Golf said in a statement sent to its members.
"The fourth and eleventh greens were vandalised by e-bikes with unauthorised access gained by cutting the wire fence behind the fourth green"
The fourth green has been repaired, whilst the eleventh hole remains out of action.
The club is working to have it repaired by tomorrow.
"We estimate it will be $10,000 or $20,000 to get this finished," McCarthy said.
"If police knock on your door, I think you should get ready for that."
The incident comes two weeks after Long Reef Golf Club suffered a similar fate as multiple teenage e-bike riders ripped up the greens at the Collaroy golf course.
In nearby Miranda yesterday, e-bikers discharged a fire extinguisher, coating a netball court.

Mass "rideouts" are increasingly taking over suburban roads across the state.
Community leaders are labelling the behaviour as completely out of bounds.
"They're like a plague of ants on our community, people are scared," a resident told 9News.
There are growing calls for the NSW government to introduce age limits and licencing for high-powered e-bikes.
