Fundraiser for NSW river tragedy family

Northern NSW police are getting behind father and daughter, Matt and Chloe Kabealo, who lost three members of their family in a drowning tragedy following Cyclone Debbie.

Mother Stephanie King was hailed a hero by police after she tried to save her children when their vehicle slid off a muddy road into the Tweed River at Tumbulgum two weeks ago.

The 43-year-old drowned with her daughter Ella Jane, 11, and seven-year-old son Jacob while her other daughter Chloe miraculously escaped.

The tight-knit Tumbulgum has vowed to stand by the family, and Tweed/Byron police have arranged a movie fundraiser and raffle to be held this Sunday, April 23.

Hoyts Tweed City has donated two cinemas while NRL and AFL clubs have donated signed jerseys for the cause.
