A fourth person has been charged in relation to the murder of a man whose body was found at an oval in Newcastle in March.

The body of the 52-year-old man was found on Thomas Armstrong Oval at Wickham Park, near Newcastle's CBD, early on March 26.

Detectives on Wednesday successfully applied for the extradition of a 46-year-old man at Brisbane Magistrates Court.

He had earlier been arrested by Queensland Police on traffic matters.

The man was taken to Newcastle Police Station on Thursday and charged with aggravated robbery and concealing a serious offence, and was refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court on Friday.

In April this year, detectives charged a 53-year-old man and a male, who was aged 17 at the time, with murder, while a 52-year-old man was charged with concealing a serious offence.
