2kg of cocaine found hidden in Sydney car

More than 2kg of cocaine with a street value of $1 million has allegedly been found hidden in a car on Sydney's northern beaches, leading to police smashing a drug syndicate.

Four men have been charged and police more charges are expected.

Officers initially arrested a 35-year-old man in Queenscliff on Monday after searching his Honda Jazz car and allegedly finding 2.5kg of cocaine in five shopping bags hidden in a secret compartment, along with another 50g on him.

The Ryde man faced a Sydney court on Tuesday.

Following his arrest, police searched properties in Warriewood, Brookvale, Freshwater, Narrabeen, Ryde and Five Dock, where they found cocaine, cannabis and cash.

A Hyundai i30 was also seized with a large amount of cash also found in a hidden compartment.

Two men, 31 and 34, were arrested, along with a 43-year-old man in Port Macquarie, and they will face court on Wednesday, police said.

The arrests were part of Strike Force Dufek, which was set up this year to investigate the sale of cocaine on the northern beaches.

"This strike force has dismantled a local syndicate which we will allege has been supplying cocaine throughout the northern beaches and we believe it will significantly impact on the supply of this illicit drug in the local area," Detective Chief Inspector Craig Wonders said.
