Folkes set on weekend trip to Cronulla

Far-right activist Nicholas Folkes says he is preparing to spend the day in the Cronulla area despite a double blow from the courts.

The NSW Supreme Court on Friday banned his much-hyped "memorial" rally on Saturday, which was to be held to mark the anniversary of the race riots that spilled out across Sydney's southern beachside suburbs in 2005.

Mr Folkes also gave an undertaking in the Federal Court that he will not hold or address any public assembly within the bounds of the Sutherland Shire Council local government area.

If he is found to have broken that undertaking, he could face jail time or lose his Rozelle home.

But a defiant Mr Folkes told reporters outside court on Friday he had every intention of heading south on Saturday and enjoying a non-halal barbecue.

"I will be down in Cronulla," he said.

"It's going to be an interesting day."
