Five in Sydney court over bystander murder

Five people have appeared in court for the first time on serious charges connected to the shooting murder of Sydney man Qusay Al Mhanawi.

The 46-year-old was sitting in a car outside his Heckenberg home in March when a motorist, alleged to be 28-year-old Matthew Glenn Russell, fired at two pedestrians but missed them and hit Mr Mhanawi.

Tori Lee Rees, Georgette Zallouha and Omar Ghazzaoui are accused of being accessories after the fact to murder and of concealing a serious indictable offence.

Damian James Snow and Rawak Rima are charged with concealing a serious indictable offence.

Rees, Zallouha, Ghazzaoui, Snow and Rima attended Liverpool Local Court on Thursday but did not enter a plea.

Magistrate Sharon Holdsworth adjourned all five, who are on bail, to return to court on May 18 at Campbelltown Local Court.
