Ex-NBL player threw rocks, eggs, punch

Ex-NBL player Luke Martin must undergo a mental health assessment after a court heard allegations that he not only threw rocks at Sydney's Lindt Cafe but eggs and a punch at police.

The former Sydney Kings player was ordered to be taken by police to a mental health facility for assessment when his matter was mentioned at Central Local Court on Wednesday.

The order came after police revealed further details describing the events before and after the 34-year-old allegedly on June 2 smashed the front windows of the cafe where the Sydney siege took place.

Police facts tendered to court also allege Martin egged a police car, broke an officer's jaw, threw a glass of water at another officer and sped through Sydney's CBD in multiple car chases.

Shortly before midnight on June 2, Martin allegedly parked his Holden Cruze near the Lindt Cafe in Martin Place and dragged out a bag of tennis ball-sized rocks from the car.

He hurled the rocks through three of the cafe's windows before returning to his car and taking off down the street, police say.

When police spotted Martin driving on the wrong side of the road, they gave chase.

Martin allegedly sped through red lights and a pedestrian crossing, prompting police to call the pursuit off.

But it was resumed minutes later when Martin was seen streaming down Oxford Street, police say.

Martin then allegedly parked outside the strip club Dreamgirls in Kings Cross and stepped out of the car holding the bag of rocks.

While here, police say he rushed at them with the bag before throwing a punch that fractured the officer's jaw.

Hours before the cafe attack, police allege Martin threw eggs at a parked police car in Edgecliff.

Early the next morning, while in custody, Martin asked for a cup of water, which he threw at a police officer's chest, facts state.

Police allege he admitted to everything during an interview after his arrest, saying: "I'm at a bad time in my life. I just wanted to get away from it all".

Martin faces charges that include assaulting two police officers, reckless driving, resisting arrest, intentionally destroying property and damaging police property.
