Death after Newcastle 'domestic incident'

A crime scene has been declared after a fight between two men led to the death of one of them at a home in Newcastle.

NSW Police were called to the Birmingham Gardens home after 11pm on Thursday following reports of a "domestic incident".

Officers found a 68-year-old man unconscious, NSW Police said in a statement on Friday.

He and a 52-year-old man were both taken to John Hunter Hospital where the older man died.

A crime scene has been established at the home and investigators are calling for information.
