Myers' friend Jessica Greene remembered Myers as a man with a big heart.

"I've come over last night to find out answers and nobody could tell us anything," she said.

Greene said Myers took her in off the street as an 18-year-old and helped her get a job.

"He's always loving, like if anyone was struggling, he'd say 'I'm more than happy to help you out'," she said.

Local police and the NSW homicide squad have established a crime scene at Myers' Nambucca Heads home.

"We're conducting a number of crime scene examinations to find any evidence that might be at that property," NSW Police Inspector Vince Nicholls said.

"At this stage, I can confirm it was a domestic relationship but I can't go into the circumstances of that relationship."

Police are now investigating if Myers had taken Cummings in for refuge.

9News understands Cummings had been living with him for a month.

"He's got a big heart that's why he took her in," Greene told 9News.

Cummings was refused bail this morning and will reappear in court on Monday.
