China corruption body eyes Sydney man

China's top anti-corruption watchdog has released information on 22 "fugitives" it says are hiding abroad, including a person thought to be living in Sydney.

The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection has released on its website images, suspected crimes, addresses and locations for persons in the UK, US, Canada, New Zealand and Australia.

The CCDI listed a person named as Ji Dongsheng, saying he travelled to "Australia on 21 December 2002".

The website lists a possible current address as in Burwood in Sydney's inner west.

It says Mr Ji is a former branch manager of Henan Securities where it alleges "guarantee funds of clients were misappropriated resulting in severe losses".

The 22 persons are being targeted as China ramps up pressure on corruption suspects who have fled overseas.

The information marks the most detailed personal data released on overseas suspects to date, CCDI official Gao Bo said, according to the official Xinhua news agency.

A statement by the CCDI also released on its website said the latest information came from tip-offs from members of the public and encouraged Chinese abroad and foreigners to inform on the fugitives through an online platform so that they had "no place to hide".
