Body found in burnt-out car on NSW highway

Detectives are investigating after human remains were found in a burnt-out car at a highway rest stop in the NSW Riverina region.

A passer-by reported finding the unidentified body in a burnt-out Nissan Tiida on the Cobb Highway in Booligal about 8am on Sunday, police said in a statement.

Officers attended and a crime scene was established.

The remains will undergo forensic analysis with police calling on anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers.
