Police allege she was stabbed multiple times in the arm with a 10-centimetre kitchen knife in an attack that started in the centre before spilling over into The Reject Shop.
The shopping centre didn’t have to go into lockdown, but The Reject Shop was closed for hours while forensic officers combed over the scene.
Witnesses said they heard screaming before police and security moved in and alleged the man tried to hit the woman with his walking stick.
She was rushed to Westmead Hospital where she remains in a serious condition.
The man was arrested at the scene and taken to Blacktown police station, where he was later charged with reckless wounding and two counts of common assault, all allegedly domestic violence offences.
He was given conditional bail and faced Blacktown Local Court today.
He will return to court in December.
