Family's visit to accused Bondi gunman is cancelled after 'suspected contraband' found
The family of accused Bondi gunman Naveed Akram were denied access ahead a planned prison visit after security claimed to have found prohibited items while searching a car, nine.com.au understands.
Corrective Services NSW cancelled the visit at Goulburn Correctional Complex in regional NSW on February 21, where the 24-year-old is in custody on 59 charges, including one count of committing a terrorist attack and 15 counts of murder.
A spokesperson told nine.com.au that staff searched a visitor's car on February 21 and discovered "suspected contraband".

"NSW Police were notified and conducted further searches. The visit was subsequently cancelled," the spokesperson.
"For inmates who are designated Category AA – the highest security classification in NSW – there is a greater level of monitoring and restrictions applied."
The spokesperson added that Corrective Services NSW could not comment further on individual inmates.
2GB's Ben Fordham reported earlier today that the banned items " do not meet any extremist threshold".
Akram has been classified as AA, which is reserved for high-risk inmates charged with or convicted of terrorism offences.
Any visitors at the supermax prison must undergo a thorough check.
Most visits to the jail involve a clear screen being placed between the inmate and visitor.
Akram is accused of carrying out Australia's deadliest terror attack on December 14, when 15 people were killed and 40 injured during beachside Hannukah celebrations at Bondi Beach.
His father, 50-year-old Sajid Akram, was shot dead by police during the shooting.
Akram is next due in court on April 9 and has not yet entered a plea to the charges.
