11 people injured in NSW head-on collision

Two cars have collided head-on, injuring 11 people in the NSW Riverina district.

A Holden Captiva carrying six people was travelling west and a ute carrying five people was travelling east on Brungle Road, Tumut when the cars crashed on Sunday afternoon.

A 76-year-old woman and 77-year-old man from the Holden were airlifted to Canberra Hospital where they remain in a critical condition.

Both drivers and the remaining passengers were taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The drivers underwent mandatory blood and urine tests and investigations are continuing.
