Ute crashes through storefront before shop catches alight

At least one person is on the run after a car crashed through a shop in Melbourne's west.

Emergency crews were called to the scene in Melton South at 3.30am today after a ute crashed through the front of a shop.

The store caught alight shortly after.

Police arrived to find the occupants of the car had fled the scene.

Officers are trying to figure out how many people were inside the ute at the time of the crash.

The investigation continues.
